Play Schemes for Young People
Play Schemes are open to all children with learning disabilities aged from 3-19 years.
The Schemes run for three weeks in the summer, and usually for 3 days at Christmas and Easter. They are divided into age groups 5-8 (usually based at Breakspeare School in Abbots Langley), 9-12 (at the Children's Centre in St Albans Road), and 13-19 (at Watford Boys Grammar School).
The day starts at 9.30am and finishes at around 3.30pm. The staff ratio is high, and for children that require additional supervision and help there is one to one support. We aim to provide some outings during the playschemes to a local park, zoo, swimming pool or bowling alley.
Cost: £10 per day
(Families on income support and some other benefits only pay
£5 per day)
Unfortunately, because our Playschemes are over-subscribed we can only offer a set number of days to each child.
Paid Staff and Volunteers Needed
We are always looking for paid staff and volunteers to help run our schemes.
