Day Activity Scheme
This scheme provides a wide range of community based group activities for adults during the year.
All activities are person-centered. Participants are involved in planning a variety of purposeful, educational, social and cultural visits, as well as a wide range of leisure and sporting activities.
The scheme generally involves days out during the week, but evening and weekend outings are included, to attend social activities such as visits to pubs and discos etc.
Funded by the Carers' Special Grant, this scheme is intended to provide respite for Carers, and adults with mild to moderate learning disabilities can access this service if they live at home or away from home with substantial support from their family 'Carers'. It is available for those people who no longer attend college, or attend college part-time and is suitable for those people who enjoy being part of a group and being fairly active.
A mini-bus or public transport is used, and participants are met at pre-arranged pick up points. Participants are asked to make a contribution of £7 toward the cost of the activity.
