Getting Connected

Here at Watford Mencap our Learning and Leisure Day Opportunities session have continued to run weekly. Last week with it being the Chelsea Flower show, our theme was horticulture and baking!

Morning was spent exploring plants and activities included pressed flowers, container gardening, virtual garden tours, wild flower photography and the afternoon was spent baking scones. The bake off was enjoyed by all so much so that it has now become a weekly fixture in our diary!

If you want to enjoy different activities each week or just do a trial session with us please contact us on 07901 914154 or email us to find out more about our sessions.

Lots of people are looking for ways to help others during the Crisis and volunteering can be a good way to do that. People living in Hertfordshire can join other by contacting Team Herts Volunteering. We love all our volunteers, here's Lauren:

Hi, I’m Lauren Harris and I have been volunteering with Watford Mencap since I was 18 years old so that’s 11 years now!

Over the years I have been involved in many projects such as the Cooking classes at West Herts college, Arts and Crafts, Quizzes, Christmas and Valentines Parties, gardening at the allotment in Croxley and much, much more.

I absolutely love volunteering with Watford Mencap. It has brought me amazing memories, is truly rewarding in every way and I have developed unconditional bonds and friendships along the way.  I am currently supporting the organisation with their virtual Day Opportunities programme.

Thank you Watford Mencap!
