Speaking Up and Advocacy

RIGHTS, RESPECT AND RESPONSIBILITY

DO YOU WANT TO LIVE A BETTER LIFE?

Advocacy means receiving support from another person to help you explore and express your ideas, thoughts, concerns, wishes and views in a secure environment.  Someone who supports you in this way is called your advocate.

WHAT WILL WATFORD MENCAP DO?

Our Speak up and advocacy services support people with Learning Disability who face a wide range of issues.  In line with Watford Mencaps values, our service is led by listening and responding to the people we support.

By being progressive, we aim to raise wider awareness, challenge discrimination, develop knowledge and skills and increase confidence by discussing and researching appropriate topics.

Subjects pertaining to Think Safe, Parliament, Friendships, Hate Crime, being safe in the community and online have been delivered.
