Support Worker

Full time - Circa £20,000 pa* + benefits

Part time - £8.70 per hour + benefits + sleep-in allowance

Do you want to join our friendly team and help local people with learning disabilities to make the most of life?  You will help people to be independent and included in their community by working alongside people when they are cooking, cleaning their home and getting out and living their life. This is a vital role within our social care charity.

Being a Support Worker is rewarding and varied.  You are a people-person and you make people feel welcome. You have good relationships with your colleagues and clients. You will work with individuals and their families to provide person-centred support.

As a Support Worker you will provide support to people in the community and in their home. This can include personal care and you’ll have to be OK with that.

You are a strong team player and able to work on your own. You are able to use your own initiative, plan and communicate and maintain accurate written and electronic records. You will be able to meet and exceed standards of care set by the Care Quality Commission, we will help you to do this.

You challenge discrimination and can understand the needs of people with a learning disability; you take an inclusive approach to work and you value the importance of choice, control and rights. Your values are important to us so don’t worry if you don’t have previous work experience of supporting/caring for others as we’ll provide you all the training you need.

We can offer flexible hours across full-time and part-time contracts in our projects in Chorleywood and Rickmansworth.

Watford Mencap offers a comprehensive training program including the care certificate (if you don't already have this). We are committed to offering opportunities to develop skills and abilities. We are progressive, winning the HCPA Most Innovative Care Team Award again in 2018, and value our people, recognised in our Investors in People accreditation.
