Challenge events for 2014!

Everyone needs a goal to get the ball rolling to get fit in 2014:

Trekking up Snowdon (Wales) in May will be followed by the popular London Nightrider event in June, before the third and final challenge – the London to Amsterdam Cycle in August.

These challenges are open to anyone who wishes to take part, including individuals or corporate teams who want to make a difference in supporting disadvantaged and vulnerable people in Watford and the surrounding areas.

Jane Pattinson, Director at Watford Mencap, said: “We at Watford Mencap are absolutely delighted to be chosen as the 2014 charity partner for Watford FC’s Community Sports and Education Trust and we are really looking forward to working together over the next year. Although affiliated to national Mencap, Watford Mencap is a charity in its own right and does not receive any funding from them, so by taking part in one of these exciting challenges people will be able to make a real difference to the lives of local people with learning disabilities and their families in South West Herts.”

Rob Smith, Community Director at the Hornets’ Community Trust, added: “There are many similarities between ourselves and Watford Mencap, with the day to day sustainability of the charity our main priority, and we are delighted to be working with them. A financial climate of continuing funding cuts makes the continuation of much-needed community work a real challenge, so we would like to encourage as many individuals and corporate organisations to get involved in these fundraising events. Join us and you can make a real difference to our community.”
