Watford Mencap Celebrates Diwali

On Thursday 4th November Watford Mencap held a Coffee Morning to celebrate the beginning of Diwali. Around 70 people walked through the door for a morning of traditional Indian food, coffee and cake. Many of the staff wore traditional Saris and in total £150 was raised from entrance fees, the eBay stall and the raffle.

Diwali festival, usually know as the 'Festival of lights' is an important five day festival in Hinduism, Jainism and Sikhism and usually occurs between mid October and mid November.

Lata Rees, Watford Mencap senior Leisure Together coordinator, who organised the event, said: Im delight at how many people turned up, Diwali is an important festival and everyone made such a big effort.

Watford Mencap would like to thank everyone who supported the event. This is the second coffee morning Watford Mencap has held and hopes to holds another one in the New Year. For more information please call 01923 713 620 or email admin@watfordmencap.org.uk
