Watford Round Table and Camelot UK Lotteries Limited present £6000 cheque to Watford Mencap

On Wednesday 15th December, Watford Round Table presented Watford Mencap with a cheque for £6000, to support its Children’s Centre in North Watford. The cheque was a result of the Watford 10k 2010, which is organised by Watford Round Table in aid of Watford Mencap and Round Table’s other chosen charities.

The cheque was presented by Round Table Chairman Mark Davis and member Tim Wood to Watford Mencap fundraiser, Lauren McEvoy. Also meeting the children at the Centre was Raj Nathwani from Watford-based Camelot, who has been a Gold Sponsor of the Watford 10k for the last two years.

Raj Nathwani, Head of Insight at Camelot, explained: “Watford Mencap provide a vital service in the Watford area, and it’s great that as a local employer, we are able to give something back to the local community.”

Watford Mencap Children’s Centre provides care and support to over 150 children with learning disabilities, whilst also providing much needed respite for their parents. Every year Watford Mencap must raise over £200,000 to support its Children’s Centre alone. There are no other services of its kind in the Watford area.

The Watford 10k will be back in 2011 on Monday May 2nd, and Camelot has recently agreed to Gold Sponsorship of the event for the third year running.

Watford Mencap would like to thank Watford Round Table and Camelot for their constant and valuable support. The Watford 10k 2011 will be on the Bank Holiday Monday, May 2nd. For more information visit www.watford10k.org.uk
