Watford FC are supporting the Watford 10K

It is now less than 3 months until the annual Watford 10k race and Watford Football Club have pledged their support to the event. The race, which will take place in Cassiobury Park on Bank Holiday Monday, May 2nd, is organised by the Watford Round Table in aid of Watford Mencap and other local charities. It attracts over 1300 runners every year and there is also a 1k and 3 k race for children.

 Although you can already sign up now at www.watford10k.org.uk, the race will be officially launched by Watford Football Club on February 22nd at the Watford vs Bristol City game.

 Attending the launch, along with members of the Watford Round Table and staff from Watford Mencap, will be representatives from Camelot UK Lotteries Limited, operator of The National Lottery and Gold Sponsors of the event for the third year running.

 A representative from the Mothercare Foundation, who are sponsoring the 1k race for under 10’s, will be there as well as Everyone Active and the Esporta Riverside Health club, who are also sponsors of the event.

 Watford Mencap Fundraiser, Sarah Maling, explained;

 ‘We are very grateful to receive so much local support for the Watford 10k. This is a significant fundraising event for Watford Mencap’s Children’s Centre and we are delighted by the amount of support we are receiving. Camelot’s continued sponsorship of the event is fantastic and we are excited to welcome new sponsors Mothercare, Esporta and Everyone Active. We would also like to thank Watford Football club for supporting and publicising the event again, and Watford Round Table who are the organisers, and long-term supporters of Watford Mencap. As 2011 is Watford Mencap’s Diamond Jubilee year, we want to make the event bigger and better than ever before.’

 More information about the event can be seen at www.watford10k.org.uk.
