Watford Mencap supporter to run Marathon for his sister

 Watford Mencap supporter John Whittle is preparing for the challenge of a life time, after gaining a place in London Marathon 2011.  It is now less than a month away until the big race on April 17th, and John, who is running the challenge for Mencap and Watford Mencap, has already raised over £1000.

 John, who has never run the marathon before, has been training every week to prepare for the challenge and the motivation is very close to his heart. John’s Sister, Sarah, has a learning disability and has been using Watford Mencap’s services for many years.

 John explained;

‘Watford Mencap is a charity very close to my heart. They have been a great support to my sister over the years, she enjoys many of their services and the chance to give something back was an opportunity not to be missed.’

 John, 31, from Ellwood Gardens, Garston is aiming to raise over £2000 for national Mencap and the local Watford branch. He is currently training hard and has completed a 17mile run.  John aims to do a 20 mile run before the end of the month to ensure he is up for the challenge.

 John commented;

‘I am very happy of my progress so far and am confident I will finish the race in one piece!’
