Richard Harrington and David Gauke visit Watford Mencap

Richard Harrington and David Gauke visited Watford Mencap on Friday 20th May, to answer questions from a group of 15 people with learning disabilities, their families, volunteers and Watford Mencap staff.

Everyone had the opportunity to raise their concerns.

David Gauke, MP for South West Hertfordshire, explained: 'This has been really interesting. Certain things have come up today that I would like to raise further.'

Richard Harrington, MP for Watford, said: 'I intend to follow up many of the points that have been raised and I will come back in the future to discuss the outcome.'

Jane Pattinson, Director of Watford Mencap said: 'We really appreciated having time with our local MP’s. Many people spoke very passionately about the impact of the cuts on local people with learning disabilities and their carers.'

David, Richard and Watford Mencap agreed that this had been really beneficial and have now arranged to come back every 6 months and talk to everyone about their concerns.
