Watford FC Intern Raises £1270 for Children’s Centre

Watford FC Intern, Mark Compton and his mum, Michaela Scott presented Watford Mencap Children’s Centre with £1270 on the 3rd May. Mark, Michaela and his sister Becky completed the New York half Marathon in March to raise the money for the centre.

They bought with them their medals, which the children tried on and a Watford FC shirt which was signed by all the players. Watford FC has been extremely supportive Mark’s efforts.

Michaela’s work colleagues at OPP, the international business psychology consultancy, have also been very supportive. They organised a raffle to help raise money and companies donated prizes including bed and breakfast at the London Marriott Maida Vale and afternoon Tea for four at the De Vere Milton Hill. Staff also donated many prizes including a £50 Amazon Voucher and bottles of champagne.

Michaela Scott said:“The best part of the run for me was coming out of Central Park and running down 5th Avenue. It’s fantastic we raised so much money for such a great cause.”

Lauren McEvoy, Fundraiser explained: We would like to thank Mark, Michaela and Becky. It is a fantastic achievement and they have raised so much for our children’s centre.

Mark and Michaela are not shy of taking up a challenge and in June 2010 Mark and his mum celebrated his 21st birthday by climbing up Mount Kilimanjaro, in north-eastern Tanzania and in 2013 they are planning to hike Peru’s Inca Trail.
