Merchant Taylors' Fun Day

On Saturday 8th September 25 people with a learning disability, supported by Watford Mencap, attended a fun day hosted by Merchant Taylors' School in Moor Park.

People with a learning disability were invited to the school to enjoy a range of fun activities including; horse riding, art, swimming, truffle making and football.

This is an annual event organised by Merchant Taylors' staff and students especially for Watford Mencap members; the event is now in its fifth year.

Nigel Messer, a resident at Thorpedale said “I did some art. I’ve drawn some flowers, a house and a fish. I feel I’ve gained a lot from taking part in the art group.”

The day was organised by maths teacher Freya Teskey, who said “The school decided to do this because we want to give something back to the community. The students get so much out of it, it’s a fantastic experience.”

To round off the day Stephanie Bignell, a young lady supported by Watford Mencap presented Ms Teskey with a bouquet of flowers and some chocolates as a thank you from Watford Mencap.
