Learning Disability Week Success!

We had a fantastic time during Learning Disability week celebrating with the families we support and giving our real-life superheroes a well deserved treat.

Children and young people took part in our Holiday Activity Schemes, which included a visit to Anouska’s Nursery at The Grove, a trip to Butterfly World and a swimming session.

Thursday was ladies day with a Pamper Evening hosted by Axis Communications in Watford. Ladies with a learning disability and their carers were treated to facials, manicures, massage, henna and makeovers.

On Friday we hosted a Family day at our Children’s Centre in Watford. Children with a learning disability and their families enjoyed a meet the animals session, which included the opportunity to meet a tarantula, a snake, an owl and a skunk! Entertainment was provided by Colonel Custard who performed a magic show and ran a bubbles workshop. The Family Day gave the opportunity for children with a learning disability to play in an accessible and inclusive environment with their parents and siblings.

To end the week our residents and staff at Thorpedale held a cake stall in Chorleywood, which raised a fantastic £300! Thank you to everyone who baked and made treats for the occasion.

Thank you to everyone involved for making the week such a success!!
