Chair - Roger Jones

I started as a management volunteer in 2010,then became a co-opted advisor and was appointed chair in 2016.

After a degree in Chemistry from Manchester University, I worked in the food industry at board level in small businesses as well as  subsidiaries of large PLC’s. I gained considerable experience in   developing organisations, mentoring and managing large budgets in very challenging and changing environments.

I am proud to participate in an organisation that gives so much  real practical help to so many people. Watford Mencap is very a impressive charity and continues to excel.

Pauline Joy - Vice Chair and Treasurer

I became a trustee of Watford Mencap in 2000 and have been involved ever since, mostly as Treasurer and Chair of the Finance & Audit Committee. Having trained as a Chartered Accountant with KPMG, I worked for a number of years in industry before giving up work to raise two daughters and I spent a number of years on the committee of my children's pre-school – Cassio Pre-school in Nascot Wood. For four years I was a Non-Executive Director of Watford & Three Rivers Primary Care Trust, two of those as Chair of the Audit Committee. I now work as the Director of Finance and Resources for a think tank – the Institute for Government – which works to make government more effective.

Lynn Green

I have been working in the voluntary sector for over 15 years. I first came across Watford Mencap whilst working as the Three Rivers Volunteer Centre Manager — back then I was impressed with the commitment of the staff and volunteers.

When I left Three Rivers I didn’t want to lose contact with Watford Mencap and wanted to help in some way. I became a trustee in 2006. I continue to be impressed with all the staff, volunteers and members, I am very proud of the work and achievements of Watford Mencap.

I work for McMillan Cancer Support as a Programme Manager. I have three children, all educated locally, two of whom have volunteered for Watford Mencap at times over the years.

Bob Page

I am a social worker by training and have held management posts in  several local authorities across London.  For the past eight years I have been a freelance Social Care Management Consultant in the private and voluntary sectors. Several of my management assignments have been with Watford Mencap and I hope I can help to promote the extensive range of high quality services the organisation offers.

Pam Robertson

I worked as a social worker for over 30 years both in adult and children's services.  I became involved with Watford Mencap after  my learning disabled son was born  34yrs ago. He enjoys the various social and life experience opportunities  and I value the support the organisation still provides our family with.

Becoming a trustee was a small way of giving back to the organisation and therefore hopefully the wider learning disabled community which is an important part of our lives. I am proud of the way Watford Mencap continues to develop  its professional approaches to making a difference to the lives of those who use the many and varied services on offer.

Russ Teague

I have over 40 years experience of people with learning difficulties of all ages, as  a carer and also by listening to families and people with visual impairment.

After university I spent 24 years with a multinational, multi-cultural company and developed skills in  Change Processes, IT and Project Management. By listening to people and organisations I help them to review and respond to the opportunities and challenges of our continually changing world.

Co-Opted Members and Advisors

Melvyn Enoch

I spent most of my career as the Senior Partner of a firm of North London Chartered Accountants. I also held other appointments as a director of a number of companies, principally in the real estate and leisure sectors, and I acted as Treasurer to two residential care homes.

I am now semi-retired but remain as a director of a small consultancy business.

Nick Clarke

I started volunteering with Watford Mencap in 2003 where I ran the Learning & Leisure IT classes on Saturday mornings for over 10 years, and for past five years I have been quizmaster at the annual Learning & Leisure quiz. I was elected to the board of Trustees in 2015 and it's been brilliant to find out about and support the organisation more broadly.

I have 14 years' experience in the Utilities and Telecoms sectors, leading project and operational teams to achieve improved customer experience and loyalty. Most recently I have been involved in helping TalkTalk bounce back from a highly publicised cyber attack last year.

I live in South London with my wife, Ellen, and our baby daughter, Leila.
