Personalisation
We have made a firm commitment to the Personalisation Agenda because it has the potential to transform the lives of people with learning disabilities.
Over the past few years we have been changing the way we work so that we can offer individually-tailored services to meet the specific needs, wishes and expectations of each person we support. We believe that self-directed support and personal budgets are important tools that help people with learning disabilities have greater choice and control over how they are supported to lead their lives and achieve their chosen outcomes.
Our own journey towards personalisation is now well underway and we have learnt many important lessons from our experiences. Designing, managing and delivering services around individual customers means changing your attitudes and the way you work across the organisation. Although this can be exciting there are challenges and we want to make it easier for other providers.
The Personalisation E-learning and Information Centre is a fantastic new resource to help local social care staff and providers on their own jouney towards personalsing their services. Thanks to funding from the Hertfordshire County Council Social Care and Social Work Learning and Development Team it is available to all Hertfordshire Private, Voluntary, and Independent Social Care staff free of charge.
