Introduction to Watford Mencap
Watford Mencap provides a range of services, advice and support that helps meet people's needs in order that they have greater choice and opportunities throughout their lives. We now support over 500 children and adults with a learning disability, their families and carers in the Watford and South West Herts area. Our main areas of work include:
-
Children's Services - after school clubs, playschemes and youth clubs
-
Residential housing - four homes and three supported houses
-
Community Services - individuals and their families receiving home support from our Community Services team
-
Advice & Advocacy Service - over 200 queries dealt with during the past year with over 1000 client contacts
-
New Solutions - helping you to live your life the way you choose and helping providers to make the changes
-
Involving People - We would like to know what you think and feel about the issues that affect people who have learning disabilities. Please follow the Involving People link to find out more about what this means.
Although we are affiliated to National Mencap, we are not financed by them.
Each year we will need to raise almost £250,000 to both maintain and develop our services.
