NEW DEVELOPMENT GIVES INDEPENDENCE TO PEOPLE WITH A LEARNING DISABILITY

A care home which was forced to close due to subsidence has led to the creation of a new Watford Mencap development in Rickmansworth. The house in Whitfield Way has undergone extensive refurbishment, including an extension, to provide a home for four people with learning disabilities, and was officially opened earlier this month.

GURPREET’S WINNING DESIGN AIDS CHARITY

The finger painting skills of an eight-year-old Bushey girl will be gracing thousands of greetings cards this Christmas. Profoundly disabled Gurpreet Juttla was a winner in a national Mencap competition and now the cards are being sold through the John Lewis Partnership to raise money for the charity.

WATFORD MENCAP RECEIVES £49,790 FROM DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH'S HEALTH AND SOCIAL CARE VOLUNTEERING FUND (HSCVF)

Watford Mencap is celebrating thanks to an award of £49,790 from the Department of Health's Health and Social Care Volunteering Fund (HSCVF). This vital funding will help the charity to enhance its work in South-West Hertfordshire through the use of volunteers.

On Saturday 29th October the Free Kicks Foundation offered two children from Watford Mencap Children’s Centre to be mascots at the Watford FC vs. Peterborough United game.
