On Wednesday afternoon, the 22nd of December, members and supporters of Watford Mencap gathered at The Old Town Hall in Rickmansworth, for the official opening of the Watford Mencap head office.

Watford Mencap gets into the festive spirit with Christmas Tea Party
On Saturday afternoon, The Rising Sun in Croxley hosted the annual Watford Mencap Christmas Tea Party for the 6th year running. The tea party is an opportunity for all the members and those Watford Mencap supports, to meet up and enjoy a festive celebration before Christmas.

Watford Mencap goes Vintage
Watford Mencap took part in Watford’s first vintage fair on 27th November and raised £225 from goods given through the charity shops.

A Cracking Performance by the Revue Variety Company
On Tuesday the 15th November the Revue Variety Company presented Watford Mencap with a cheque for £1000, from the proceeds of their production ‘Musical Memories’.

Support Watford Mencap’s Christmas Appeal
Watford Mencap have launched their Christmas Appeal, aiming to raise £5000 for their Children’s Centre on St Albans Road. Watford Mencap are urging supporters, old and new, to donate what they can this Christmas to help support more children with a learning disability and give more families a break in 2011.

‘Musical Memories’ for Watford Mencap
The Revue Variety Company is staging a production called Musical Memories from 15th - 20th November at Kings Langley Community Centre. All donations made from the production will go to Watford Mencap.

Watford Mencap Celebrates Diwali
On Thursday 4th November Watford Mencap held a Coffee Morning to celebrate the beginning of Diwali. Around 70 people walked through the door for a morning of traditional Indian food, coffee and cake.

60 Years On for Watford Mencap
Watford Mencap was founded in 1951 and will be turning 60 next year. To celebrate, a short film has been created to show how different life was for people with learning disabilities 60 years ago.

The afternoon was organised and kindly donated by Burrda, official sponsors of Watford Football Club, and the members got to enjoy the perks of watching the Watford vs Leeds game in a box.

Local funfair provides afternoon of fun for Watford Mencap
The Amer Funfair opened its gates to Watford Mencap for two hours of free rides and refreshments in the King George Recreation Ground, Bushey. Funfair owner, John Amer, organised the afternoon along with Hertsmere Borough Council. All of the people who use Watford Mencap’s services, volunteers and staff, were invited along.
