Meet G 👨‍🍳 G has been peeling potatoes that will lead to a tasty meal later! Our Training Kitchen, based in our Community Hub on Langley Road, Watford, offers a safe, supportive space for people with learning disabilities to learn practical cooking and life skills. With 1:1 support, people can learn how to plan meals, shop for ingredients, manage money, follow recipes and safely use kitchen equipment. Whether you want to cook for yourself, build independence, or just enjoy learning more about food, our friendly team is here to help, at your pace. You said… we did! 💬🍕 When our CACA group told us they wanted to take part in more cooking activities, we listened. 👏 Everyone made their own pizza for lunch, choosing their favourite toppings after a trip to the shop to pick out ingredients. From planning and budgeting to preparing and cooking, it was a brilliant way to build independence, confidence and have lots of fun along the way! What a fantastic day at the Ricky Pancake Race 2026! Last week, the streets of Rickmansworth were filled with laughter, cheering crowds and the smell of fresh pancakes as teams raced, flipped and sprinted their way to the finish line, all in support of Watford Mencap 💛 From impressive pancake-flipping skills to a few dramatic near-drops, every team brought brilliant energy and community spirit. The sun was shining, the competition was friendly (mostly 😉), and the atmosphere was simply unbeatable. A huge thank you to our incredible headline sponsor @gibbsgillespieea for supporting this much-loved local tradition. Your partnership helps us continue providing vital services for people with learning disabilities and their families across South West Hertfordshire. We’re also so grateful to the amazing team at Coach and Horses who joined in the fun, took part in the race and hosted a brilliant post-race meet-up (with well-earned pancakes all round!). 🥞 To every business, community group and individual who entered a team, donated, cheered from the sidelines or helped organise the day – thank you. We were so proud to hear this lovely feedback about Nicole and Brittany, who supported C at a family wedding recently.
