Our Bushey charity shop is based on Bushey High Street and helps raise much-needed funds for Watford Mencap. The store is a magnet for those seeking alternative fashion and who like to shop sustainably, buying pre-loved and saving goods from landfills. The shop has a fantastic variety of clothes, shoes, bric-a-brac, toys, and books, and with regular offers and discounts, there is always a bargain to be found. We are pleased to receive donations of saleable goods during opening hours. Cooking Club is back from Monday 1st June! 🍳 Join us every Monday from 4:30pm - 7:30pm at our Community Hub on Langley Road, Watford. These classes will in blocks of 6 weeks or 5 weeks. Would you like to learn to cook in our stunning Training Kitchen? Our Cooking Club offers a safe, supportive and friendly space for people with learning disabilities to build confidence, learn practical life skills and have fun along the way. At Cooking Club, people can: 🥘 Create delicious food 👫 Socialise and make new friends 📖 Follow recipes 🔪 Learn to safely use kitchen equipment 🌟 Build confidence and independence Whether you want to learn how to cook for yourself, try something new or simply enjoy spending time with others, our team is here to support you at your own pace. Meet Beth 💛 For many years, Beth carried the memory of a difficult experience at a hair salon. It affected her deeply, and she spoke about it every day, often feeling upset and anxious at the thought of going to a hairdresser again. This week, Beth achieved something huge. With support from the Hillside team, especially her key worker Ayan, Beth found the confidence to visit a new hair salon for the very first time since that experience. Staff made every effort to ensure she felt safe, supported and comfortable throughout the visit. We’re so proud to say it was a success! Beth was incredibly happy afterwards and celebrated with a coffee and croissant, which made the day even more special. Moments like these may seem small to some people, but they can represent enormous personal victories. Well done Beth, and thank you to the Hillside team for the care, patience and encouragement you show every day. 💙
